This bright orange/reddish salamander with a major attitude is the teenage version of the eastern newt and can often be found sharing the trails in the High Knob Region.

Love running uphill? Love running downhill? The Red Eft 5.5 Miler offers the best of both worlds!

The Red Eft 5.5 Miler starts just outside downtown Norton at the High Knob Destination Center (HKDC). The road running race travels into Flag Rock Recreation Area and then returns to the finish line at the HKDC. All proceeds benefit program development at the HKDC.

Race Course

The race climbs more than 1,000 feet from the High Knob Destination Center outside downtown Norton to near the Flag Rock Overlook in the city’s Flag Rock Recreation Area. Participants then retrace their steps, descending more than 1,000 feet, back to the finish line at the HKDC.
